GoR has embarked on an ambitious plan to create world-class infrastructure facilities in the State and had conceptualised a comprehensive programme titled the ‘Mega Highways Project’ to improve road infrastructure in the state through RIDCOR. Set up in October 2004, Road Infrastructure Development Company of Rajasthan Limited (RIDCOR) is a non-government company, constituted as a 50:50 joint initiative of the Government of Rajasthan and Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Limited (IL&FS). First of its kind, RIDCOR is an excellent example of innovative approach for public-private partnership in development of road infrastructure in the country wherein all the finances have been arranged by the private partner without recourse to Government Guarantee. RIDCOR has enabled the public and private sectors to complement each other’s’ skills in creation, maintenance and preservation of public assets.
RIDCOR was mandated with executing the country’s first-ever mega highways project. The project has been a unique experience because for the first time, road connectivity is being seen as a platform to support urbanisation, tourism, employment and livelihoods. Under the Mega Highways Project more than 1400 kilometre long network has been created in the State of Rajasthan. The Company remains an inspiring example of seamless working of public and private personnel to achieve high standards in road infrastructure building. Apart from highways, the Company has also constructed various other infrastructure projects like road over bridges, parking lots and school in the State of Rajasthan.
